About Shiba Daijingu Shrine
This shrine was founded in 1005. The enshrined deities are Amaterasu-Omikami (Deity of the Sun) and Toyouke-no-Okami (Deity of Food), just as at Ise Grand Shrine.
It enjoyed generous protection from the Tokugawa Shogunate and garnered a large following as the “Ise Grand Shrine of Tokyo.”

It is just a short walk from Hamamatsucho Station or Daimon Station, and Zojoji Temple is also nearby. After passing through the torii gate and climbing the stairs, I arrived at the main hall.
There was a “Savings Monument” at the bottom of the stairs. It was written that patience is required for doing anything in Japanese.
When I visited the shrine at night, a fire was burning and a wedding ceremony was taking place.
Seasonal Scenery
In spring, beautiful cherry blossoms bloom in the shrine precincts.
A “chinowa” (large ring made of cogon grass) is constructed at the end of June. Worshippers pass through this to ward off misfortune.
The Daradara Matsuri, one of Tokyo’s iconic festivals, takes place from September 11 to 21. It takes place over 11 days and is said to be Japan’s longest festival.
