About Gyoranji temple
It is a Jodo-sect temple and the 25th stop on the Edo 33 Kannon Pilgrimage. It was located just a short walk from Shirokane-Takanawa Station.
As I passed through the red gate, the main hall stood right before my eyes.

A seated statue of Yakushi Nyorai (Bhaisajyaguru) was enshrined nearby. In his left hand, he held a jar of medicine said to cure any illness.

At Gyoranji Temple, the principal image – Gyoran Kannon – is specially exhibited to the public on the second Saturday of May. On this day, anyone can enter the main hall to pray.
It was an unusual Kannon Bodhisattva (Avalokitesvara), holding a basket containing fish in its right hand.

The dragon painted on the ceiling was also impressive.
