This website is run by Katsuhiko Horiuchi (known as Holly), a temple stay researcher living in Japan, and Jisyatabi (Temple and Shrine Travel) Co., Ltd.
I have stayed at over 100 temples and shrines. I have also visited over 10,000 temples and shrines in Japan. The Japanese version of temple stay Japan’s website has been in operation for over 25 years.
I work with temple stays all over Japan to create a variety of projects. I have also published several books about temple stays. I have even won awards for these activities.
What I want to say
There are temples and shrines all over Japan, and they are very beautiful. However, with the population declining, many temples and shrines in rural areas are no longer able to maintain their operations and are in danger of disappearing.
I am currently working to speak to Buddhist monks and Shinto priests about these crises and countermeasures.
Temple stay are a lot of fun and are a great way to experience temples, shrines and Japanese culture. It also helps preserve Japanese culture that has been passed down since ancient times.
