About Seishokoji temple
This temple is dedicated to the Sengoku-period warlord Kato Kiyomasa (1562–1611).
Because he fostered the development of Kumamoto and built numerous temples of the Nichiren sect, he became the object of a unique form of worship after his death. As he was particularly skilled in castle construction and flood control works, he is also revered as a guardian deity of civil engineering projects.
