About Ninnaji temple
Ninnaji Temple was founded in 888 and serves as the head temple of the Omuro school of the Shingon sect.
The massive Nio-mon Gate is said to be one of the three great gates of Kyoto.

If you pass through this gate and walk straight across the spacious temple grounds, you will find the Kondo (Main Hall), a National Treasure.
This structure was originally built for the Kyoto Imperial Palace in 1613 and subsequently relocated to its current site between 1622 and 1624. Inside the hall, the principal image of Amida Nyorai (Amitabha), statues of the Four Heavenly Kings, and others are enshrined.

A five-story pagoda stands on the right side of the approach. It was built in 1644 and stands 36.18 meters (118.7 ft) tall. It has been designated as an Important Cultural Property.

Highlights
There are two gardens in the paid admission area of Ninnaji Temple. The south garden is a dry landscape garden, while the north garden features a central pond surrounded by a variety of plants.

The Treasure Hall opens for limited periods during spring, summer, and autumn. Ninnaji Temple houses tens of thousands of cultural assets, including 12 National Treasures. You can view them here.
