A temple full of boar statues

Zenkyoan is a sub-temple of Kenninji Temple. Kenninji is a large temple, and this temple is located on the southwest side of the grounds.
Zenkyoan is a temple dedicated to Marici, the deity who was a heat haze deified in ancient India. It is said that those who pray to Marici will be protected from harm. For this reason, Marici was worshipped by warlords of the past.
TheMarici of Zenkyoan is said to ride on seven boars. Due to this origin, there are many boar statues within the temple grounds. They come in a variety of shapes, from muscular ones to round and cute ones.

Zenkyoan also has fortune-telling slips encased in boars. It is also popular to read the contents and then offer the boar as an offering to the temple grounds.

There were also boar charms, votive plaques, and temple seals.
Other highlights
Zenkyoan and Kenninji Temple are connected by a charming path. I also recommend walking here!

Zazen (Zen Meditation)
Once a month, a Zazen (Zen meditation) and sermon meeting is held. The event will be held on the first day of the boar. (In Japan, 12 different animals are assigned to each day in rotation.)
