Introduction to Honnouji Temple
Honnoji Temple was founded in 1415 and is the head temple of the Hokke sect Honmon school.
It is also the temple where Oda Nobunaga, one of Japan’s most famous warlords, met his end. However, at that time it was located about 1.4 km (just under one mile) west of its current location.
