Introduction to Honnouji Temple
Honnoji Temple was founded in 1415 and is the head temple of the Hokke sect Honmon school.
It is also the temple where Oda Nobunaga, one of Japan’s most famous warlords, met his end. However, at that time it was located about 1.4 km (just under one mile) west of its current location.
Shukubo (temple stay)
Hotel Honnoji is located adjacent to the temple grounds. While the exterior of the hotel is modern, the entrance and lobby incorporate images of the era when Oda Nobunaga was active.
Dinner is Kyoto cuisine made with plenty of seasonal ingredients. On the top 9th floor, there is a large public bath, one of the largest in Kyoto City.
