Shukubo (temple stay)
Daisenji Temple was founded in 1599. There are three lodgings renovated from old houses close to the temple. I didn’t stay the night, but I did get to see the inside.
The guest rooms in the first accommodation are pictured below.
In the tokonoma (An alcove in a Japanese style room) was a hanging scroll depicting Amitabha.
This is the guest room of the second accommodation. The shoji screens with dragons painted on them are very impressive.
When I visited, the third one was under renovation. The blue wallpaper is vibrant.
Convenient Facilities
Each room has a kitchen, bathroom, and toilet. There is also a washing machine, which is convenient for long-term stays.
The monks at Daisenji Temple work for a game company and are creators who also draw manga. Because of this, there were lots of games and manga.
Bicycles were also provided, making it convenient to get around Kyoto.
Morning service
Services are held in the main hall and you can attend. You can also try out copying Buddha images.
