Shukubo (temple stay)
This is a women-only shukubo. You may sometimes have to share a room with other people.
Located in the optimum place to tour around the Sagano area, it takes only one minute to reach Sagano Shaka-do. Possibly because this lodging is for women only, the room and the futon mattress and duvet were all clean and good. The bath and the lavatories are shared.
The charm of this shukubo lies in its garden. The guests at the shukubo are allowed to see this beautiful garden for free. I stayed here in October and the leaves were only beginning to turn red and yellow. If it had been in the middle of or late November, it would have been really beautiful. As small as it is, I highly recommend this shukubo.
The curfew is 21:00. The breakfast was also really tasty.
