Shukubo (temple stay)

This is a shukubo of Myoshin-ji temple. It is a modern reinforced concrete building. I stayed there during the holidays in May. Because the person I traveled with did not like public baths, she looked for a shukubo with a private bath. This shukubo is truly like a hotel. The building is neat and clean and offers complete facilities. We enjoyed a very comfortable stay there.

There are many shojin vegetarian restaurants or Kyoto cuisine restaurants around the lodging, but we ate in the restaurant inside the building as we had made reservation. They serve really tasty dishes!

The next morning, a monk showed us around the grounds of Myoshinji Temple. It was fun to see places that I normally wouldn’t be able to see.
