Jyochiin temple stay (Wakayama)
It was the precinct of Jyochi-in that became the temporary residence for Priest Kobo when he climbed Mount Koya for the first time. The building was nearly new in general, the main hall hasn`t changed. While many Buddha statues were watching, I participated in the morning service in a solemn atmosphere. -

Engyoji-Myokoin temple stay (Hyogo)
This shukubo belongs to Engyoji.It is famous as the place where the movie, "The Last Samurai" was shot. This shukubo, Myoko-in, is located half way on the side approach, and is suitable for a small group. -

Engyoji-Kaikan temple stay (Hyogo)
This shukubo belongs to Engyo-ji, an old temple founded by Priest Syoku in 966 and is also known as Enryakuji in the West. Shukubo Engyoji-Kaikan is located half way on the approach and you can participate in zazen, shakyo (copying sutra by hand) and a Buddhism sermon. Single person stay is also possible. -

This temple is located in the mountains a short distance from the town of Takayama, which is called little Kyoto in Hida and is famous for its old and beautiful scenery. This Shukubo is not operated as a lodging business but as a Buddhist accommodation. -

This temple appeared with the name of Manpuku-ji in a famous novel, Yoakemae (Before Dawn) written by Toson Shimazaki , a prestigious international novelist.The guest rooms consist of two sections, two four and half tatami mat spaces. I ate shojin vegetarian cuisine. At night, I received instruction on zazen. -

This is a temple located in the mountains with no people living within a 5km radius. It is designated as one of Chichibu's thirteen sacred places of Buddhism. They offer accommodation as a shukubo and zazen practice at the zen hall. They also serve shojin vegetarian cuisine. -

Syogakuji temple stay (Saitama)
This is a temple surrounded by abundant nature in the mountains. You are able to eat homemade shojin (vegetarian) food cooked under a nature-friendly policy. They also offer instructions on zazen practice and shakyo practice (copying sutra by hand). -

Togakubo shrine stay (Kanagawa)
This is a shukubo of the Ohyama-Afuri shrine. I have copied down the shinto prayer. My heart has become so clear. Ohyama is famous for tofu. We ate tofu kaiseki (course dishes) for lunch. I am very fond of tofu including yuba (tofu skin) and iri-tofu. I fully tasted the thick flavor and the sweetness of soybeans. -

Komadori-Sanso shrine stay (Tokyo)
Mount Mitake has been worshipped as a sacred mountain of Kanto and shukubo lodges have spread around the Musashi Mitake shrine. Among them, Komadori-Sanso is popular as a shukubo that offers takigyo (ascetic training of being hit by a waterfall) even to general people in Tokyo. -

Fuchinobo temple stay (Nagano)
This lodging is a shukubo of Zenko-ji temple and it has a good reputation for its special shojin vegetarian dishes. You will be guided to worship at Zenko-ji temple in the morning and participate in the grateful receiving of the juzu rosary in front of the main hall.
