This is a temple located in the mountains with no people living within a 5km radius. It is designated as one of Chichibu's thirteen sacred places of Buddhism. They offer accommodation as a shukubo and zazen practice at the zen hall. They also serve shojin vegetarian cuisine.

This is a temple surrounded by abundant nature in the mountains. You are able to eat homemade shojin (vegetarian) food cooked under a nature-friendly policy. They also offer instructions on zazen practice and shakyo practice (copying sutra by hand).

Shodenji Temple is the hermitage where the 107th Emperor spent his later years in 1602. The shukubo is two stories high. Each floor has guest rooms, beds, a kitchen, toilets, and bathrooms (there is a shower room on the second floor). Multilingual support is also available.

This is a sacred place of mountain worship located at the top of Mount Mitsumine with an altitude of 1,100 m in the Chichibu mountain chain. The shukubo is an older reinforced concrete building that looks like a school dormitory. The hot spring is good for muscle aches, neuralgia, joint pains, and sensitivity to cold.

Myokaiji Temple was founded in 1359. It is built on a hill overlooking the sea. Shukubo is located just a one-minute walk from the temple gate. This is a lodging facility created by renovating a house. Those who wish can also try out a meditation session.

Amatsushinmeigu Shrine was founded by Minamoto no Yoritomo in 1184. Shukubo is located just across the road from the grounds of Shrine. This renovated house is now a lodging facility that only caters to one group per day. The next morning, we attended a shrine ceremony.

This is a shukubo of the Ohyama-Afuri shrine. I have copied down the shinto prayer. My heart has become so clear. Ohyama is famous for tofu. We ate tofu kaiseki (course dishes) for lunch. I am very fond of tofu including yuba (tofu skin) and iri-tofu. I fully tasted the thick flavor and the sweetness of soybeans.

It was founded over 400 years ago and has hosted many worshippers. Tofu is a valuable protein in traditional Buddhist cuisine that does not use meat or fish. It then began to be served to worshippers at shukubo, and the food developed. At Komiya-Ryokan, we enjoyed creative tofu dishes made by the owner and his wife.
