About Fukagawa Shinmeigu shrine
This shrine was founded by Fukagawa Hachirouemon, who settled in this area approximately 400 years ago. At first, a small shrine was built on the estate to enshrine a divided spirit from Ise Grand Shrine. As this area developed, it came to be worshipped by many people.

Seven Lucky Gods Pilgrimage
To the right of the main hall, there is a small shrine dedicated to Jurojin. This is one of the Fukagawa Seven Lucky Gods. Every year between January 1st and 7th, people visit seven nearby temples and shrines to pray for good fortune.
Annual Grand Festival
The annual grand festival is held on the Sunday closest to August 17th. A portable shrine is making its procession through the neighborhood, and the atmosphere is very lively.

While walking around the shrine, I was able to see the procession of the portable shrine. A Shinto priest on horseback also passed by. The children were pulling a festival float.
