Binding Ksitigarbha and praying

Nanzoin Temple was founded in 1348. It is famous for its Ksitigarbha bound with rope.

I tied the Ksitigarbha statue with a rope while praying for my wish. The rope was provided at the temple. Each rope cost 100 yen.

There is a ceremony on New Year’s Eve where this rope is untied.
Daruma was also tied up.

The Ksitigarbha depicted on the votive tablet was also tied up with rope.

Other wishing spots
It is said that if you straddle a cattle statue, you will be successful in life.

Ringing the bell brings good luck. You can play the bells between 10am and 3pm.

There is a Suikinkutsu (Water harp cave) at the back of the temple grounds. When water is poured, droplets fall into the underground jar, making a beautiful sound.
