Introduction to Takei-Ryokan Temple
Takei-Ryokan is located in the Chusha area, the heart of Togakushi Shrine.
It has a history of having been the lodging facility of Shinran, the founder of the Jodo Shinshu sect, about 800 years ago. The hall houses a statue of Shinran and a seated statue of Shaka Nyorai (Sakyamuni), which can be visited at any time.
Shukubo (shrine stay)
Takei Ryokan was quiet and very comfortable. The sounds of insects chirping and flowing water outside the window were soothing and refreshing. The Togakushi specialty soba noodles was excellent.
It was a valuable experience to listen to the Shinto priest’s explanation and see items related to Shinran.
