About Kurumazaki shrine
This shrine is dedicated to Kiyohara no Yorinari (1122-1189), a nobleman and Confucian scholar of the Heian period.
He is said to possess unparalleled knowledge, and is revered for bestowing blessings related to academic success and passing examinations. It also brings the blessing of ensuring that important promises are kept.
A shrine for entertainers, worshipped by many celebrities
The Geino (entertainment) Shrine located within the shrine precincts is dedicated to Ame-no-Uzume-no-Mikoto, a deity from Japanese mythology known for performing a dance. For this reason, it is known for bestowing blessings for proficiency in the performing arts. And in fact, many celebrities visit to pray.

There is a small shrine within the shrine precincts dedicated to Sei Shonagon. She was a writer active from the late 10th century through the 11th century and a figure who had a significant influence on Japanese culture.
