Shukubo (temple stay)
Saizenin Temple is located near the Great Pagoda of Koyasan. It is said that in 1235 Shinran, the founder of the Jodo Shinshu sect, underwent 100 days of training in front of the statue of Amitabha.
The shukubo has 15 relaxing Japanese-style rooms. There is a room where Konosuke Matsushita, who founded Panasonic and grew it into a global company, stayed. You can stay in this room if you wish.
There is also a garden designed by the famous gardener, Mirei Shigemori.
The meals are Buddhist vegetarian cuisine. There are also various experiences available, such as Ajikan meditation, copying sutras, making prayer beads, and being guided around Koyasan by a monk.
