Shukubo (temple stay)
Shinseiin is a temple located along the approach to Chomeiji Temple, which was founded around the 9th century. The principal image of this temple is Acalanatha.
The room we stayed in was about 10 tatami mats in size. There was a TV and a fan. Yukata robes were provided.
The dinner menu consisted of rice, clear soup, cutlet sashimi, boiled fish, konjac, etc. It wasn’t buddhist vegetarian food, but it was delicious.
It’s extremely quiet at night. It was pitch black outside and I tried to get to the vending machine to buy a drink but couldn’t find it. When I looked up at the sky, the stars looked very beautiful.
Incidentally, I was able to see Lake Biwa from the temple grounds during the day. This scene also remains in my mind.
