Shukubo (temple stay)
This guesthouse is located very close to Kanazawa Station. The building, which was once a kimono shop, has been renovated and the storehouse has been converted into guest rooms. The owner is a Buddhist monk who became a monk in Myanmar. The name Pongyi means monk in Burmese.
There was a Buddhist altar inside the inn, and a Buddha statue was enshrined there.

I stayed in a dormitory room with two bunk beds. The kitchen and shower are shared. There were lockers to store valuables.

I spent most of my time in the common room. There were people from a variety of countries, including tourists from Scotland, Denmark, and Singapore. I had a great time talking and playing Karuta (Traditional Japanese card game) with the owner and other people.

There were many Kanazawa guidebooks in the common room. Guests were exchanging information with each other about how great Shirakawa-go was. Guests were exchanging information with each other about how great Shirakawa-go was. It’s a great place to stay as a base for your trip.
