Introduction to Fushimi-Inari shrine
Fushimi-Inari is the head shrine of the Inari shrines, of which there are said to be 30,000 across Japan. It is said to grant good fortune in bountiful harvests, prosperous business, and safety in the home.
The gate was built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in 1589. He was one of Japan’s most famous Sengoku warlords. The main hall is designated as an Important Cultural Property.
Fushimi Inari is famous for the countless red torii gates lined up in a row. Many people were taking photos here.
After passing through the torii gates and walking a little way, I found the wishing stone. It is said that if you lift this stone and it feels light, your wish will come true.
If you have time, I also recommend going on a mountain tour. You can visit the many shrines on Mount Inari. It takes more than two hours to walk the whole way.
Along the way, there are many fox statues, which are messengers of the god.
