Introduction to Entsuji temple
This temple was originally a detached palace built by Emperor Go-Mizunoo in 1639. Later, in 1678 it became a Rinzai Zen temple, and in 1680 it became a temple dedicated to the prayers of Emperor Reigen.
The principal image, a statue of the Avalokitesvara, is said to be the work of Jocho.
The dry landscape garden in front of the guest hall is said to have been built in a location that offers the most beautiful view of Mount Hiei. You can enjoy the beauty of each season, from azaleas in spring, to autumn leaves in fall, and snowscapes in winter.
