About Suzumushidera temple
This temple relocated to its current site in 1723.
Its official name is Kegonji, but it is affectionately known as Suzumushi-dera. “Suzumushi” is a bell cricket. It is an insect that sings with a beautiful tone. It came to be called this because 50,000 bell crickets are raised there, allowing their chirping to be heard all year round.
During the visit, you will be served tea and sweets while listening to a Dharma talk by a monk.
There is a famous Jizo (Ksitigarbha) statue wearing straw sandals that grants just one wish.
