Introduction to Syodenji Temple
Shodenji Temple is the hermitage where the 107th Emperor spent his later years in 1602. “Afterwards, it became an Edo branch office of the Nichiren sect, and was officially renamed Shodenji and became a temple.”
The deity enshrined here is Bishamonten (Vaisravana), the protector of Buddhism. It was believed to grant good luck in winning, prosperity in business, and wealth, and was worshipped by the common people. There is also a statue of a guardian tiger in the precincts.
Shukubo (temple stay)
I haven’t stayed here yet, but I did attend the opening press conference. The shukubo is two stories high. Each floor has guest rooms, beds, a kitchen, toilets, and bathrooms (there is a shower room on the second floor).

System
One of its features is that it is completely unmanned. The entrance is an auto-lock, and inquiries regarding accommodation can be handled remotely.
At the press conference, the character moved expressively and answered questions about the temple’s history and what to expect during our stay.
When I spoke to the chief priest, I learned that activities such as copying sutras and making amulets are also available.
