Copy the shinto prayer
This is a shukubo of the Ohyama-Afuri shrine. I have copied down the shinto prayer. My heart has become so clear.
Tohu lunch
Ohyama is famous for tofu. Although we did not stay overnight here, we ate tofu kaiseki (course dishes) for lunch. I am very fond of tofu including yuba (tofu skin) and iri-tofu. I fully tasted the thick flavor and the sweetness of soybeans.
What was served first was powdered green tea and a Japanese sweet called Umetofu. Under the chopstick holder placed at each seat, there was a piece of paper on which a waka (a thirty-one syllable verse) was written. What sophisticated hospitality!
I fully enjoyed the mature taste of the shukubo, including the Japanese room built like a separate guest house and the outdoor bath surrounded by new green leaves. It is certainly geared to adults.
Then the hostess of the shukubo appeared serenely to greet us. Tasting the tofu dishes here made me think about what I usually ate as tofu. The richness and the depth of the taste were completely different.
The well devised dishes they served made me feel the unlimited possibility of tofu. I was truly satisfied with the variety and the deliciousness of their tofu dishes.
