Shukubo (temple stay)
Takayama-Zenkoji Temple is a shukubo that was converted from a residence connected to the main hall. I didn’t stay overnight, but I did attend the media preview.
Upon entering through the front door, there was a conversation space with a hearth.
There were five guest rooms, ranging in size from two to nine people.
Some rooms face the garden.
Bath require reservations, and each group will have a designated bath time. Some rooms also have a shower room.
Buddhist Temple Experiences
If you wish, you can experience copying sutras and meditation. There is morning worship and training that involves feeling your way through pitch-black underground corridors.
Hida Takayama is a popular tourist destination, and the surrounding area is home to the morning market, Takayama Jinya, and old townscape.
